Slick! Credit: Capcom

Capcom has finally unveiled the tenth character addition to Super Street Fighter IV and while I’d like to say it’s making me scratch my head, the truth is that I’m still laughing too hard to react to the batshit insanity the company has foisted upon us.

First, lemme state that I’m sure Capcom knows what it’s doing and far be it from me to decry the company before actually playing the game. After all, we all doubted Street Fighter III when it was revealed that the game was dumping almost the entirety of the SFII cast in favor of newcomers, and that particular sequel turned out pretty well.

Eventually.

That said, let me introduce you to Hakan, Super Street Fighter IV’s resident Turkish oil wrestler.

Yeah.

Apparently tiring of Flash Kicks, Messatsu Go Hadous and Psycho Crushers, Capcom decided the roster for their latest fighter needed something a bit more … viscous. Thus, we have a character whose entire fighting style is based around lubricants.

I don’t know if this is some kind of Dan Hibiki-style gag character — if it is, I’m at a loss for which SNK character is being parodied here — or if oil wrestling is the next discipline to make it big in the world of MMA, but this Hakan guy looks way too enraged for someone covered in slick goo.

It’s almost as if they’re setting him up to be the Akuma of the WD-40 set and I just don’t know if I can take that seriously.

  1. Fer real? Like I said, I know nothing of oil wrestling so if its the manliest sport since someone first decided to throw down with a bear I’m all for it.

That said, I can’t not associate this guy with a bunch of naked middle aged dudes sitting in a sauna, groping each other. Maybe that’s a personal hang up.
