We’d slated a story for Tuesday night about Mayor Sam Adams cutting the Police Bureau’s mounted patrol unit as part of his upcoming budget. Obviously a lot has happened since then, and we ended up going with a story about the settlement of the James Chasse Jr suit. Which itself seems like weeks ago now, but that’s newspapers. Jon Sperry whipped out this incredible illustration, which never made it into the paper. And based solely on a description of the illustration on Monday night, the Mayor asked for a framed copy, so…

Hey, speaking of newspapers and a week being a long time in politics, check out this interview I did with Jake Thomas from the Portland Observer on Sunday (scroll down to the second video). We go back and forth bitching about everything that’s wrong with Portland, but I go on at considerable length about the need to reprioritize mental health focus in the police bureau, the Chasse case still not being settled, and the fact that the Mayor really should take charge of things from Dan Saltzman. I’m not saying me and God talk every day, or anything. But the interview seems eerily prescient just four days later.

I like the $ signs for eyes on the pig. It’s the little details like that make Jon so good
Gays shoot horses, don’t pay.
HOLY SHIT!!! : D
Great picture, but can’t imagine Adams would really want to hang that. Did he really ask for a copy? Or am I just being really gullible?
@Alexjon: My vote for comment of the week.
Matt, how can you possibly give up all your power to control policy in Portland to go hobnob with insufferably southerners in New Orleans???
I suppose it was too late to add Saltzman and Sizer to the cartoon …
