Okay, I’ve never actually been on the Tour de Lab, Lucky Lab Brewery’s annual bikes-and-booze ride between its four Portland establishments, but here are two crucial details from the ride description:

1. The ride includes a contest for best dog costume.
2. One of the rest stops includes an all-you-can eat hot dog bar.

Sold!

I have a pair of free tickets to the ride (a $110 value!) and will give them away for whoever can email me the best answer to this question: What would you do with 1,000 hot dogs?

  1. Man! I got a lot of good entries, including a definite runner up including detailed instructions of how to make a bed out of hot dogs, but I’m going to have to give it to reader Todd for his well-rounded and creative answer. I like that he hits all the bases:

“With a 1,000 hot dogs I would probably eat two with some onions, hot peppers and mustard. I would then feed my kids and my dog a few plain ones because they prefer their hot dogs sans condiments. I’d then take the tubes out of the tires on my bike and stuff the tires full of dogs to create a flat tire proof ride. This sounds like a fun experiment. I figure I would still have 917 hot dogs left over so I’d load up my bucket bike with beer and the dogs and have a traveling picnic.”
