I’ve been meaning to share this quote ever since the weekend—and now seems as good a time as any to remind people that Occupy Portland is also about building a community. A very loving community, apparently. Said near the mess tent, by an earnest fellow:
“This is a really awesome place to pick up women, right? I mean, you know they get it here. They’re smart. And they’re committed”—he gestured to the growing tent city in Chapman Square—”to this.”
Time to start betting on which news outlet runs the first “Occupy Wall Street baby boom” trend story next summer.

I do look forward to Portland being occupied for many months to come.
OH, AND TO SAVE GRAHAM THE TROUBLE OF POSTING, SINCE HE SHARED THIS WITH US EARLIER, AND I FORGOT TO LINK TO IT:

(SEE HOW I USED ALL CAPS THERE? WWGD?)
@DENIS: YOU’RE THE BEST!
Unrelated, maybe, but this is not new thinking. I was on Capitol Hill during the conclusion of the House vote to impeach Clinton. There were a lot of folks milling about the Capitol building, some protesting the action, some supporting. I stuck up a conversation with a guy who remarked, I came because I thought there’d be chicks here. Doesn’t matter, be it Applebees on a Friday night or a political gathering, dudes do what dudes do.

I’M IN YER THREADS, BREAKIN’ YER TABLES
They way he says “to this,” while pointing out a tent city, makes me think he’s hunting for people to join his polygamist cult in rural Oregon. Well played.
Great, dirty hippies breeding…sounds like Eugene!
