Every child needs a mother and a father?

The Williams Institute, a research center on sexual orientation law and public policy at UCLA School of Law, has announced new findings from the U.S. National Longitudinal Lesbian Family Study (NLLFS), the longest-running study ever conducted on American lesbian families (now in its 24th year). In an article published today in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, the 17-year-old daughters and sons of lesbian mothers were asked about sexual abuse, sexual orientation, and sexual behavior.

The paper found that none of the 78 NLLFS adolescents reports having ever been physically or sexually abused by a parent or other caregiver. This contrasts with 26 percent of American adolescents who report parent or caregiver physical abuse and 8.3 percent who report sexual abuse. According to the authors, “the absence of child abuse in lesbian mother families is particularly noteworthy, because victimization of children is pervasive and its consequences can be devastating.

In addition to being a nationally syndicated sex advice columnist, the author of several books, and the host of the Savage Lovecast, Savage is “a deviant of the highest order” (Daily Caller)....

  1. Sigh, I suppose I’ll do it since it’s been a while:

    “78 NLLFS adolescents” (which I assume represents around half as many families) is an infinitesimally small study sample, especially compared to “all self reported child abuse” (which could also include lesbian parents, it’s not clear).

    Furthermore, it’s not stated if the NLLFS study is a random sampling, or if the participants are voluntary, which would flavor the results dramatically. I doubt that many child abusers would sign their children up for a study like this.

    Lastly, the headline for the article itself “Child Abuse Rate At Zero Percent In Lesbian Households, New Report Finds” is the most egregious misuse of statistical data I’ve seen in a good long while. It should read “Child Abuse Rate At Zero Percent In 50 Lesbian Households.”

    ATOMIC IS A HOMOPHOBE WHO PROBABLY BEATS THE CHILDREN OF GAY PEOPLE JUST TO MAKE SURE THEY’RE PROPERLY ACCOUNTED FOR, BEATING-WISE.

  5. I worked at a dhs office for 4 months. In that time I saw 3 homo cases where kids had to be taken away because they were so badly abused. One family, the youngest kid was beaten to death, the others were put in state care because DA couldn’t prove which mommy had killed the boy, because they both were such psychos. Not just daddies abuse, not just mommies abuse, therefore, not a specific number of mommies in the house will determine how the kid is treated.
