During Pedalpalooza, nothing brings out the cycling masses like the perfect conceit. And for the last eight years, the Bowie vs. Prince ride has been at or near the very top of the barrel.

It's just a beautiful notion: Pick your favorite of the two gender-bending pop/rock gods. Meet up with like-minded folks, and party/ride your way across town until you meet your rivals in the other camp at a mutually agreed upon end point (this year a warehouse outfitted with a live cover band).

Then dance.

You've heard, maybe, that this year's Bowie v. Prince is the last, with the passing of the two titular legends earlier this year. Which makes the ride—Saturday, at 7 pm—the most essential of this year's Pedalpalooza.

But what to wear? There's some expectation that you'll don an outfit in tribute to either Bowie or Prince, but neither was a sartorial slouch. By all means, rock your Jareth or Batdance outfits if you've got 'em, but anything's fair game. Personally, I'm thinking something in the Thin White Duke vein.

Even if you can't dress up, show up. But if you're looking to make it really pop off tomorrow evening, here are some photos from last year to get you started.

Before we get to them though, IMPORTANT: The Bowie Ride begins at 7 pm tomorrow, at Holladay Park near the Lloyd Center. The Prince Ride sets off at the same time from Sewallcrest Park.
