Got in line at the horse brass at 6:20 today to secure a decent seat. It was stressful watching the US, especially after England got the leg up on slovenia, but WHAT A FINISH. I lost my voice by 9:00.

And THAT is why we care more about soccer than any other sport.

What an amazing couple of days.

Last night the Timbers made it into the Round of 16 in the U.S. Open Cup and this morning the USA made it into the Round of 16 in the World Cup.

Reymont - you couldn't be more wrong if you tried. The reaction to that one goal, and how much it meant, after 91 minutes of scorelessness, is the reason it is and always will be an infinitely better sport than anything where scoring is easy (basketball, for example).

The idea that more points equals better entertainment is only valid for people too stupid to have a decent attention span.
