Are you a complete nutbag for the Timbers? Are you so soccer crazy that people say, "Jesus Pete. That person is very soccer crazy." Do you like to go to the Timbers games—for FREE—and be on the inside track of all Timbers related news and gossip? And do you like getting paid a small amount to pursue a form of sports writing you truly love?
THEN HAVE WE GOT THE JOB FOR YOU!
Our previous crack Timbers reporter Brian Costello got a sweet job elsewhere (good luck, Brian), which is also great news for you because we now have an opening for Blogtown's Newest Timbers Blogger! Interested? READ ON...
The successful applicant should have a shit-ton of knowledge about soccer and a deep love for the Timbers (that means you should also love them enough to be brutally honest). You should also be funny, smart, able to hit deadlines, and be a snap, snap, SNAPPY writer.
What do YOU get out of the deal?
• Press credentials for all Timber games, which gets you priority seating to ALL THE GAMES and special match-ups, as well as into the locker room!
• The thrill of working on the most popular blog in the Portland metro area, which is devoured by at least a quarter of a million happy readers per month! (I'm talking about Blogtown, guys.)
• Getting paid (admittedly not a lot, but it's something and there's always the possibility of even more money and more of your pieces getting published in the print version of the Mercury)!
If you're interested (or know someone who would be great), EMAIL ME HERE and include one or two writing clips, a short note detailing how your experience makes you perfect for the gig, and if you'd like, a sample Timbers column as an example of how you'd strut your stuff.
I'll probably be making a decision next week, so send in your applications ASAP!
