BACK IN NOVEMBER, Reading Frenzy proprietress Chloe Eudaly announced that her tiny, beloved zine store would be moving as of March 1. The building's landlord had decided to remodel, sending Eudaly on a hunt for a new location.

As of our press deadline, no location has been secured, so Eudaly is packing her inventory into storage as the hunt for a new space continues. Reading Frenzy's last day at their longtime downtown location is Friday, February 22. In the meantime, a Kickstarter to help the tiny bookstore fund its move should launch sometime this week.

Reading Frenzy's move comes almost exactly one year after the Independent Publishing Resource Center moved from its location above Reading Frenzy to a bigger and better location on SE Division. That move has proved productive for the IPRC, and Eudaly is optimistic about her store's future prospects as well. "As long as our project is funded we will re-launch sometime in the spring," she told the Mercury. "Things are too good to give up now!" ACROSS TOWN ON SE BELMONT, another longtime arts venue is soon to shut its doors. Theater! Theatre! has been a key part of Portland's theater scene since Don Horn and Myra Donnelley founded it in 1994. The building houses two theaters, one of which is currently home to Profile Theatre, the other to Theatre Vertigo; over the years, it's housed hundreds of shows by dozens of theater companies, including Stark Raving Theatre, Fuse Theatre Ensemble, Stumptown Stages, and many others.

The theater is closing because the venue's landlord, Veerinder Chawla (owner of Tao of Tea, which shares the Theater! Theatre! building) has decided not to renew its lease.

On Saturday, February 23, Triangle Productions is hosting an "open forum" with Chawla and members of the theater community to further discuss the venue's future. Barring any change in plans, both Profile Theatre and Theatre Vertigo will finish out their 2012/2013 seasons in Theater! Theatre!, They're both currently seeking new venues for their next seasons. In the meantime, Theatre Vertigo's production of The Velvet Sky just opened at Theater! Theatre!, and Profile Theatre's production of South African playwright Athol Fugard's Blood Knot opens on Saturday, March 2.
