Pop-up shop mania continues to rage on in 2011: Up next is a two-month shop featuring the art (and printed tee-shirts, toys, etc) of Zerofriends, a roving art collective headed up by SF artist Alex Pardee. Hosted by Upper Playground and Fifty24PDX Gallery, the shop launches June 2 and stays till July 28 in the digs at 23 NW 5th. And on the First Thursday of July, Pardee will be in town to release and sign a new book collecting his art, titled Awful/Resilient. If you're not familiar with Pardee's work (or his cohorts', Skinner—no known relation to me, but he's been on the Merc's cover—and Dave Correia), and you're into the whole psychedelic monster scene, check them out. My personal favorite are Pardee's huge selection of mini-print portraits of horror movie villains—everyone from Chuckie to Cujo to Jason to Michael Myers to Predator. At $10 a pop you could spend all summer collecting your faves.

Hit the break for one of Skinner's apocalyptic acid trip visions.
