As previously mentioned, this year Portland can add one more festival to its annual season of festivals crammed on top of each other: Design Week Portland! Scheduled for October 9-13, the event pools resources from organizations like Designspeaks, CreativeMornings, WeMake, ADX, PSU, PNCA, Museum of Contemporary Craft, WebVisions, CreativeCares, and AIGA to create a program of activities for anyone working in design, across a multitude of disciplines.

Specific details have been few and far between, but the web site just went live today, with a full schedule (as of now, although we can expect still more additions between now and then) of open houses at design studios and businesses across the city, lectures, tours, films, parties, and workshops. A small sample of contributors includes Nemo Design, Faythe Levine, Wieden + Kennedy, Mag-Big, Skylab, and Danner Boots, with topics as diverse as graffiti as fine art, book making, sign painting, film financing, letterpress printing, and so much more, and most of the events are very inexpensive or free—check them all out, and start marking your calendars. It's all festival from here on out folks, so stock up on your preferred energy boosters, put on your walking shoes, and get ready to be excited, stimulated, and ideally, enlightened.
