Harold Phillips has a recap of the winners on his blog. defunkt’s 4.48 Psychosis absolutely swept it—awards for best director and ensemble, and it shared best production honors with Ragtime (whose director, Chris Coleman, also took a best director award). Despite my (minority) conviction that defunkt handled that material poorly, it is good to see a small company get some recognition—last year two suburban companies won for musicals, which felt a little weird. Anyway, click on over to read Phillips’ reporting and the full list of winners.

Alison Hallett served nobly as the Mercury's arts editor from 2008-2014. Her proud legacy lives on.

  1. What’s the deal with them giving out the same award to five different people? That just seems like “elementary school everyone’s a winner” bullshit; like the people picking the winners ae scared to have an opinion and stick to it.
