Following last month’s teaser, here’s another quick, great ad for Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master—featuring the first glimpse of Philip Seymour Hoffman as L. Ron Hubbard Totally Not L. Ron Hubbard. The only way this casting could be better is if they got Tom Cruise.

Whoa, weird. I just remembered Paul Thomas Anderson totally made a movie with Tom Cruise. I wonder if they’re buddies. I hope so! But if they are I suspect The Master might make things just a tiny bit awkward 🙁

  1. It looks amazing. Beyond that, these trailers are incredible. Rather than the incomprehensible scramble of split-second clips and stock music, these trailers create a genuine curiosity about the plot and characters. Impressive for a minute and a half. Whoever cut these needs more work in Hollywood.

  2. Back in May, Anderson screened the film for Tom Cruise. Commented he has “Issues” with Scientology inspired film The Master. (google news: cruise the master)
