It’s been suggested that a velodrome be installed in the Memorial Coliseum. Frankly, that sounds more than a little boring. However, if the Coliseum were turned into the Northwest’s premier Indoor Synchronized Bike Riding venue, well then, that would be a whole different story.

As you can see from the video below, Synchronized Indoor Bike Riding is not only awesome, but it will also draw hordes of German tourists who will pump up our local economy by spending loads of money (even if most of it goes to pay schnitzel tabs at Gustavs). Germans, after all, love bike riding, synchronizing stuff, and get like eight month of vacation every year.

Thus the Memorial Coliseum issue is solved. No need to thank me.

  1. Funny stuff.

Actually, we don’t need to find a purpose for Memorial Coliseum. It’s a multi-purpose arena that should be able to be configured for a whole different range of events, whether it’s basketball, concerts, a velodrome, or silly BS like this.

  2. I liked the public health club idea the best, with a team sport space in the bowl. I think these bike-only ideas would marginalize the facility too much.

  3. The fixie I had as a young lad couldn’t be pedaled backwards because that worked the brake. We were manly back then and didn’t need (or have) front wheel brakes. That looks hard. Kids, don’t try this at home w/out a lot of crash padding. Can you pedal a non-fixie bike backwards? Just curious.

  4. And what’s with the two guys running in to set up a net as soon as it’s done? Were they, like, really aching to play some roller soccer or something?
