I noticed this cardboard sign dangling from a stop sign near our office and stopped to read the strange notices scrawled on its front and back. I assumed it must be part of IFC series Portlandia, which was shooting in our office yesterday. But when I asked the crew if they knew anything about it, they shook their heads.

I have few clues to understand this mystery sign. The sign was hung on a stop sign with no bike around at all. Ideas, anyone? My theory is: bike was chained to pole for a long time, infuriating neighbor who made funny, passive-aggressive notice, bike owner’s mom removed bike, writing back aggressive-aggressive notice.

  1. @Rosy: I’ve seen bikes get flagged and removed in the last six months or so. It seems like the bike has to be obviously abandoned: wheels missing, rust, et al.

  2. Yeah they are getting better. One poor OCD guy parked his bike in the same place every day and they would tag it at least 3 times per year. I heard they used to just melt them down and not even auction them off.
