Tipster Wesley Pasqualle send in these photos he took of a truck and trailer he saw in the Fred Meyer parking lot at SE 82nd and Foster.

Now, clearly, I don’t know anything about this vehicle or its back story or where metal scrappers dug up a couple dozen bikes. But just saying that if I personally were going to build a bike stealing mobile, that is exactly what it would look like. Just saying.

nice photos, next time get a plate number…
That guy used to park in front of Burgerville on Hawthorne selling used bikes. Super shady dude.
Now, I really like the tone of the blog, and usually defend when people say things like “This is news?” and “Where’s a reporter when you need one?” but this just seems awesomely silly, and it makes me giggle out loud.
“We saw a truck?” Seriously? Can we look forward to more posts like this?
“BREAKING: I HEARD A NOISE”
“UPDATE: We saw another truck!”
I imagine the plate is fully legible in the original full-size photos. I can just about make out 7RS-S__ from the photos provided. (Note they’re resized by your browser in this blog post, if you go to the actual image itself it’s a bit larger at 500×375 pixels.
)
People throw away bikes all the time. I’m not saying these bikes couldn’t be stolen, but come on– those don’t look like someone’s freshly-pilfered commuter bike, even in a tiny pic like that.
I see the bikes, now where are the bikers?
On one side it says “Scrap Metal,” on the other side…”Fresh Sausage”!
It’s people! “CHUCK’S FRESH SAUSAGE” IS PEOPLE!!!
Does have a catchyness to it: “We clearly don’t know anything about what we’re picturing here. Blogtown.”
They probably contract with local business owners to cut the locks on derelict bikes.
