MAMMA MIA! HERE WE GO AGAIN If you thought they were going to stop just because the first Mamma Mia! used up all the good ABBA songs, think again.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is the most opposite of reality a movie can get. It is a universe of music and light and love, completely devoid of cynicism, hate, and ugliness. If I did not feel a moral responsibility to stay engaged in actual life, I would watch Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again every single day.

Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is a musical filled with ABBA songs. It stars some of the most likable white people out there, including Amanda Seyfried, Christine Baranski, Colin Firth, and Cher. Lily James plays a young Meryl Streep, living her best late-1970s life and hooking up with tons of hot dudes. In this perfect universe, she is not ostracized for not knowing who the father of her daughter is. (The daughter will just have three dads! Of course! Why not?! Let’s dance about it!) There's more beautiful stuff in here that I’m going to list so you have a taste of the happiness that this film will bring you: Swimming. Cake. Wine. Sunshine. Sex. Romantic love. Parental love. Girlfriend love. Singing. Horses. Inclusive dance scenes. Cher singing “Fernando” to Andy Garcia. A delicate application of Meryl Streep that will leave you a puddle of gratitude and hope. Fresh orange juice. Goats.

I want to reconsider my stance on marriage so that I can marry Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. I want it to be one of my daughter’s fathers. It is the lightest timeline. It is the good place. Aside from parenting my child, it is the most uplifting experience I’ve had in the last two years. It's important to be engaged, but mental health breaks are important, too, and while you could just silence your phone and try to ignore each news alert signaling our further descent into doom, it'll be much better to watch Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again and fully immerse yourself in pure, batshit joy.
