As we head into a weekend busy with readings and protests, it’s important to keep track of your Craig Thompson appearances. This would be the weekend to catch him, while a healthy bulk of Portland’s youth is concentrated elsewhere.

TONIGHT at first Thursday Thompson is signing books at Floating World Comics on the corner of NW 4th and Couch St. from 6 – 10 p.m. There’s also an exhibition of art inspired by Habibi with works by Mike Allred, Aaron Rainier, Carson Ellis, Theo Ellsworth, and others.

FRIDAY, Bridge City Comics will host a signing and book release party, also starting at 6:00 p.m., at their store on 3725 Mississippi Ave. This event will feature a limited edition print, available for $10 with purchase of the book.

SATURDAY Craig Thompson will be reading at Wordstock at 3 p.m.

SATURDAY NIGHT Thompson will participate in the Wordstock edition of Live Wire! at the Aladdin Theater.

Thompson’s new book Habibi is a masterpiece and his talk at Powell’s last week was very interesting. He discussed design, influence, politics, and the six years of work that went into it. Be sure and check him out.
