Local literary magazine Small Doggies (who recently added a space in their name) will host its 19th reading tonight at The Blue Monk on Belmont. Festivities begin at 8:00 with music by Silly Rob Childish (Rob Gray in disguise) and continues with readings at 9:00.
Tonight’s readers are Joseph Rippii from New York whose latest novel is The Orange Suitcase. Representing Portland is Erik Bader, writer and co-host of the Literary Mixtape series, and leading off is Alexis Smith, author of Glaciers from Tin House. Alexis’s book has been getting great reviews, including this one from Alison.
More info on the Facebook and at Small Doggies. Music begins promptly and readings are always a blast with a good crowd and friendly people. It’s downstairs and there’s a suggested donation of $5. The Blue Monk is at 3341 SE Belmont.

And Eileen Myles is reading tonight at If Not For Kidnap. Eileen Myles! With Rachel Springer and music by Diagonal People. How they kept this one secret I do not know. 8:30 pm, 3968 SE Mall St., Upper Floors, Portland, OR 97202 http://http://ifnotforkidnappoetry.blogspo…
They kept it a secret by… not publicizing it. (*grumble*)
