  • PATRICK ROTHFUSS Fantasy writers: The only ones who can get away with publicity photos like this.

When he’s not offering to help get Firefly back into production or summing up his books for people who haven’t read ’em, Patrick Rothfuss writes some pretty impressive fantasy novels—namely, the hugely popular, giddily acclaimed The Name of the Wind and its long-awaited, even-better sequel, The Wise Man’s Fear, which came out yesterday.

Rothfuss is reading tonight at 7 at Powell’s Books at Cedar Hills Crossing (3415 SW Cedar Hills, Beaverton). If you’re going—or thinking about going—you might wanna check out the interview I did with him from last week’s Mercury. The short version’s here; the full transcript is here.

With honor and distinction, Erik Henriksen served as the executive editor of the Portland Mercury from 2004 to 2020. He can now be found at henriksenactual.com.
