Portland has hosted more canna-related events this year than I can count—literally. Starting the day cannabis went legal on July 1, there seems to have been an event every week. As such, we wrap up this year with two more coming up this Thursday and Saturday, both at Refuge.
Thursday, Dec 10, the powerhouse that is the Portland Chapter of Women Grow sponsors their first annual “Cannaball.” Hosted by HiFi Farms, Cascade Labs, and the Weed Blog, the event promises live music, aerialists, a photo booth, an open bar, a champagne lounge, and gift bags. “Cocktail attire” is suggested, so guys that means something other than your nicest jeans and freshly pressed Pendleton shirt. Seriously. Find tickets here.
On Saturday, Dec 12, it’s back to the Refuge for another inaugural event, the Sungrown Cannabis Festival. This one starts at 2 pm, and features live music, a joint rolling competition, a live art dedication, and gift bags. The big draw for many is the sun-grown competition, with growers competing for best Indica, Sativa, hybrid, and CBD strains. (Full disclosure: I’m one of the “celebrity judges,” thus redefining what we consider a celebrity.) Details, including ticket information, can be found here.
