We have a “only post the most interesting and relevant Kickstarter projects on Blogtown” rule. And this Kickstarter project about a cleverly designed, eco-friendly cat-scratching post, created by a local manufacturer and based on the Chicago skyline, is very relevant to my interests:
(The manufacturer, Mike Estes, has previously flexed his building-stuff muscles as set/props guy for Trek in the Park.)

Oh man. I and my cat would love one of these. I do not have $150. ๐
My cats would never love something this classy. They only like the tackiest toys. It is mortifying.
Everyone should buy me one.
Great idea, but… no stability. It would be great if you screwed it to the floor or had a base wide enough that the cat would be standing on it while scratching. The reasons why cats like furniture over most scratching posts? It doesn’t move.
The problem with something this pricey is that cats reserve the right to ignore it. Then it ends up in your garage sale for five bucks, or next to a dumpster.
Also: “self-generating” bamboo? You mean, like…it grows?
