The people behind the Bridgetown Comedy Festival are bringing one of my favorite comedians to town this Friday. Laurie Kilmartin is a writer for Conan, and a very funny comic, but you may know her from Twitter where she got a lot of attention last year for live-tweeting of her father's decline and passing. It was one of the most moving and hilarious things I've ever seen.

She's turned that experience into a standup special called 45 Jokes About My Dead Dad and bringing it to Portland.

This is not a one-person show. I don’t do that. In my heart of hearts, I’m a nightclub comic. No tears. No message. Some dick jokes.

Watching a brilliant joke writer tackle a very difficult subject will be cathartic and amazing. As if that wasn't enough, she'll be co-headlining with the very funny Dan St Germain, who's got a Comedy Central Half Hour and a bunch of other stuff.
