As you may have heard, comedian Greg Giraldo passed away last week. Giraldo was scheduled to headline at Helium Comedy Club. In his place, the club has booked Nick Thune. In association with the Mercury, Helium is giving away 20 tickets to each of Thune’s shows this weekend.
To get yours—and a +1 for that someone special (which you can totally pretend like you bought!!)—simply email promos@heliumcomedy.com, subject “Nick Thune Tickets,” before they’re all gone. Be sure to specify which show you’d like to see (Thursday, Friday Early 8:00PM, Friday Late 10:30, Saturday Early 8:00PM, Saturday Late 10:30). **Helium requires a two-item minimum.

There’s also some free comedy going on tonight, both open mic’s at Helium and the legendary Suki’s (2401 SW 4th Ave), where things go from brutal to brilliant in the blink of an eye.
I really want to like Helium, I really do. The two-item thing… okay, whatever. But get some decent food in there! Those nachos… *shudder*
Two item minimum is stupid. But then, their business model is to give away tickets and gouge on mediocre drinks and food.

They lured us in during their opening month with Maria Bamford, then punched us in the face with typical unending sexist/white-centric mediocrity.
