Sometimes people are like, “Wow, Babs you sure hate when people hate women!” And I’m like, “Yeah, thanks!” But, really, I hate when anyone subjugates others, especially when it’s sexual discrimination based on a group’s identity politics. What I’m saying is, if it weren’t for an intense fear of fire, I’d be burning bras all day. This week in Florida (of course it was Florida, jeez, you’d think we’d know a hellmouth when we saw one), a basketball coach found out that two of his female players were dating and kicked one of them off the team. It wasn’t very sporting.
When the younger girl’s parent’s found out about the relationship, they pressed felony charges on the older girl for “lewd and lascivious battery on a child ages 12 to 16,” which is ridiculous, because isn’t that the point of high school? My least favorite piece of misogynyโwell, sexual discriminationโthis week is the prosecution of 18-year-old Kaitlyn Hunt for dating a 14 year old.
The poor girl was expelled from school just before graduation. If she is found guilty, she’ll have to register as a sex offender and could serve up to 15 years in prison. This high school experience could ruin the rest of her life, and not in the way binging on Game of Thrones in bed for a day can fix. Kaitlyn’s mom wrote, “Kailtynโs girlfriendโs parents are pressing charges because they are against the same-sex relationship…(they) blamed Kailtyn for their daughterโs homosexuality.”
I think the reaction to the age difference probably wouldn’t be this drastic if the couple had been straight. And people wouldn’t even have cared at all if they were vampires. Everyone would be like, “Oh my god, did you hear Sarah is in a relationship with a vampire 100 years older than her?” “Oh, that’s awesome!”
So that’s the thing I’m most outraged about in gender identity politics this week. But don’t you worry, traditional misogyny is still going strong! That has been my least favorite piece of misogyny this week, tune in next week to find out if our plucky heroine can withstand the forces of darkness or if she too will turn into a fish monster!

Everyone’s freaking out at the prosecutors for bringing charges, but I’m not hearing nearly enough about why the school saw fit to expel a senior for dating a freshman.
Honk if you love Babs!
BEEEEEEEEP
This is just wrong.
Sadly, this happens to males too. It happened to a coworker, he was 18 and she was 16 and Dad didn’t like the relationship and filed charges. They were both in high school.
10yrs. later while being promoted to insurance management, a new background check found the conviction and he was fired.
He still has to report as a sex offender too. Lame.
So you think that a 18 year old guy wouldn’t get into trouble for dating a 14 year old girl?
Oh, c’mon now Barbara.
And you call this misogyny?
You are really scraping the bottom of the barrel for stories, aren’t you?
I don’t agree with the prosecution, but the suggestion that an 18 year old guy could bang a 14 year old girl, the cops could find out, and he would just get some high fives is ludicrious. I have a friend whose son got caught with his girlfriend going at it in a car by a cop, they were 18/16 both sets of parents approved, he was still arrested and prosecuted, over the objections of the girls parents who liked him and were very upset about the whole thing. The conversation should be about further relaxing these laws and not putting kids who are dating other kids on sex offender registries ever, not whether or not this is gay discrimination.
Ummm, 18 and 14 is a bit of a stretch and is considered statutory rape in most states. Sure, the school kicking them off a team is stupid, but the 14 year old’s parents have every right to press charges, regardless of the gender of the 18 year old.
