So glad we Portland homeowners could provide you with your consumer discount.
This ad is terrible, to the people who are coming here because you DON’T want to pay a sales tax think about who this is affecting, it comes from other individuals sources of income. The state has high property taxes, the income tax of the residents. Anything that seems to be too good to be true is, this isn’t a destination of paradise.. Someone else has to pay for your no sales tax. This ad doesn’t promote a true picture of Oregon.
As someone that works in the ‘Couve and lives in Portland, and thus is always screwed with taxes I will give a polite, “fuck you.”
That is all.
I don’t believe this commercial has much sway with our tax policies that are already in place. It’s just capitalizing on them. Trying to get some purchasing dollars that would be spent elsewhere spent here.
If anything it’s bad for the coffers of bordering states who would get tax funds from buying goods there, but good for businesses selling goods in Oregon. But if you want a sales tax implemented take it up with your congressman (seems like a worthwhile conversation).
