I realize that to the non-nerd there is little difference between a midnight comic book release party and this, but I think it’s pretty exciting that Floating World is hosting a party to celebrate the release of Scott Pilgrim #6.

On July 19 at midnight, Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour will go on sale at Floating World—they’ll also be screening episodes of the Edgar Wright-directed Spaced, which is great, and SP publisher Oni Press will have merch and prizes on hand, which is also great. (I recommend this poster, my wall has no complaints.) If you haven’t read the Scott Pilgrim books, you should! Don’t let the hype put you off. You’ll probably like ’em. My review of the last book is here, for some background.

Alison Hallett served nobly as the Mercury's arts editor from 2008-2014. Her proud legacy lives on.

  1. OH SHIT!!! I AM SO THERE!!! I want some awesome swag as well! I guess I should go ahead and actually buy the books I borrowed to read rather than bought to read. Or do I wait for the omnibus release that’s sure to be released at some point? SO CONFUSED!

  2. I am hoping that when I go to buy #6, I don’t get sneered at by Comic Book Guy the way I did when I tried to buy #1-5. I need to yelp around for a friendly SF comic book store.

  3. +50 Internet English points for Graham for properly saying “swag” and not “schwag.”

That’s my new thing, being positive.

(I’m not giving up sounding like a condescending prick, however.)

  4. Yes. Yes. And more YES.

HOWEVER. Like the end of the Harry Potter series, or the impending end to this World Cup, what will I do when there is no more Scott Pilgrim to look forward to?

  5. I’m sooooo tired of lazy animation but hey if it pays, what can I say?50 points off @Commenty Colin. Its a sword handle not bottom.
