A couple of notes: Then Play On was not Danny Kirwan's first album with Fleetwood Mac. He was on the prior two UK albums one of which morphed into a US album called English Rose.
There's also three double CDs of previously unissued tracks and Blues Jam In Chicago. The
Then Play On CD's liner notes called Kirwan Fleetwood Mac's new guitarist. All Then Play On
tracks are on the CD.
Jeremy Spencer was allowed to leave Fleetwood Mac during Then Play On to record a solo
album Children Of God on Columbia but came back for Fleetwood Mac's Kiln House on which
Kirwan shines mightily. Maybe it's just me but Kirwan reminds me of Neil Young.
Hi Tom, the two prior albums Kirwan appeared on (I assume you mean the American release English Rose and the UK album The Pious Bird of Good Omen) are both compilations of singles and other material. Then Play On was the first proper album to be released after Kirwan joined the band. And those double CDs were released decades later. Also, the CD of Then Play On does not include "One Sunny Day" and "Without You," which both appeared on the original UK release of Then Play On.
It sounds like Then Play On is finally being given a proper re-release with the original 14-track UK track listing plus additional material: http://www.rockcellarmagazine.com/2013/06/…
