While researching the term “blooper”, I found myself deep into one of the most impressive Wikipedia posts I’ve ever read regarding such a frivolous subject. Of particular note, I was interested to discover that the term “blooper” is a derivative of the term “boner,” which was the original term broadcasters used for mistakes made during programs.
That being said, I don’t know why fishing show boners are funnier than regular boners, but they are. Interestingly, the Wikipedia entry has no mention of this little known fact. Here’s proof in a collection of boners from Bill Dance Outdoors.
