This week’s Recession Proof Mixology has already begun at what I consider one of the most under-rated eateries in the city. Bar Avignon on Division serves beautiful and simple food along side a great cocktail menu and an affordable selection of wine. A recent dish of mussels proved sublime, with thick tender meat and a broth that effectively crossed the line to soup.
Tonight, I will not be after the food. I will be trying to sample the entire House Spirits cocktail list. I can’t remember how many there are, but it should be fun. I can walk home from there.
All cocktails from 4pm — 6pm off of the RPM list are priced to move at five bucks a pop. I promise not to punch anyone.

Hopefully the OLCC isn’t there to fine the bar for serving you when you are sweating Rumple.
Do you think people are passively/post-mortem bitter and/or unintentionally boycott-y towards the businesses on that block becauce of the Death of Red & Black Cafe? I’m curious. I kind of am, adnd I hardly ever went to Red & Black. Maybe it’s ‘cuz I went to Evergreen and that’s how I’m trained.
