Courtney, commenter Atomic, and a buncha sailors fresh of the “McClusky.” Which is the name of a boat. Apparently.

Hope everybody had fun at the Blogtown meetup/bike issue release last night. Nice meeting commenters JoeStreckert, tk, and Fruit Cup, and seeing some regulars as well. Personal karaoke highlights: “Suddenly Seymour,” by a couple of guys from comedy troupe the 3rd Floor; Denis Theriault’s “Cracklin’ Rosie”; when Tony Perez stole my glasses in order to “get in character” to sing Lisa Loeb’s “Stay.” Fun times.

Alison Hallett served nobly as the Mercury's arts editor from 2008-2014. Her proud legacy lives on.

  1. My favorite moments: dancing with sailors to a karaoke rendition of Lonely Island’s “I’m on a Boat,” platonic prom dancing with Commenty Colin, and Smirk writhing around on the floor with a microphone.

  2. It was fun! Good meeting you all, all the folks I met. Sorry my friend almost passed out on stage while singing “Jeremy”. That was kinda both my favorite and unfavorite moment of the night.

  3. +1 Courtney, and @Sarah, my hand is definitely, wearily raised. Also good: Steve’s “Hollaback Girl,” and “Home,” which got everyone out on the floor and stomping.

I enjoyed my Biannual Dancing Outing.

  4. Next time I would like more white rappers, please, a la Commenty Colin and his wicked sick rendition of “Ain’t Nothing but a G Thang.” Had I a beer, I’d have tipped it for da homies.

  5. It was excellent I meet you all. I got prime speaking time with a few of you, a sincere pleasure! It’s great to get faces to people.

Also! The nice thing isn’t an Internet schtick! Elwood P. Dowd is a personal role model of mine.

  6. Also, on the suggestions side of things. We should have private message system on blogtown. It’d be handy for handing out contact info to folks for other outings! You know. For those of us too socially inept to do it in person.

  7. That was lots of fun! My favorite moment was probably the gibberish-strewn rendition of “Plush.” And Fruit Cup, I’m making good on what I told you I’d do:

Enough of this “posting with my real name” bullshit. From now on, I am the Right Reverend Rocktimus Prime.

  8. @Right Reverend, with a handle like that, it’s going to be a lot harder for me to mistake you for much older for no discernible reason again.

Nice to meet Rocktipus, tk & tha Cup.

  9. @Joneser, I don’t know, I don’t know! I think I already messed it up. Besides, it’s quality over quantity. You have me totally beat there!

@The Esteemed The Right Reverend Rocktimus Prime, great change! Although I’m tempted to just call you a R^3=3 (R-cubed = prime number 3).

And lastly, I can’t believe I missed the sailors. Clearly I need better fortitude!
