As you know, we’re gonna be BLOGGING THE SHIT out of tonight’s election returns—so pop back in this evening for a startling array of entertainment and political minutia! But for right now it’s time to place your bets! WHO DO YOU THINK IS GONNA WIN: KITZHABER OR DUDLEY? Not who you wish would win, but who you think is actually gonna win. Vote in the poll below, and in the comments, leave your point spread, and how much you would bet on your choice (if you were a wagering person).

WHO DO YOU THINK IS GONNA WIN?

Put your money (or at least your reputation as a Blogtown commenter) where your mouth is!

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. I want Kitzhaber to win. And I think he’s gonna win. But…put money on it? Are you nuts? There are too many sweet old ladies who might say “That Chris Dudley looks like such a nice young man!” And the taller candidate usually wins. And moustaches are often a liability. BUT…I still think Kitz will win.

  2. I have the same sentiments as Todd. I’m pulling for Kitz, but Dudley has so much irrational inertia on his side.

My natural pessimism says it’ll be Dudley, but I’m not willing to get all doom-y yet. Here’s hoping that enough un-jaded Dems turn out today.

  3. I say Kitz, but it will be tighter than anyone would like. I recall lots of speculation about Saxton beating Kulongoski last time, but in the end Saxton got about the percentage of registered Republicans. I expect that Dudley will do better than Saxton, but still. He lacks a cogent platform, which won’t inspire the Independents who are actually independent because they want to pick the best candidate, and the voters who are in his corner by party affiliation don’t come close to putting him over the top.

  4. Dr. No vs. Dudley Do Nothing- whichever candidate wins is going to be one and done.

Neither one is going to be able to do squat, aside from slashing spending and making themselves incredibly unpopular. Oregon can’t borrow any more money and this state will never get its collective shit together enough to fix an unstable, badly designed tax base.
