And the best part of the best part:
As Ron Paul starts in on his heroin lecture he’s basically being laughed off the South Carolina stage. Then, in just two minutes and thirty seconds, he manages to gently point out the giant contradiction in a bunch of small-government, freedom-first conservatives cheering for government to interfere in people’s private lives.
Now, this kind of contradiction isn’t news or a revelation to anyone who pays attention to politics. But it’s not easy to explain to a crowd like this—not easy to basically tell a bunch of South Carolina conservatives that they’re being unthinkingly inconsistent. Ron Paul does that, and at the end of his two minutes and thirty seconds he essentially has a hall full of Republicans cheering for heroin legalization.
USA!

I find this headline misleading and disappointing.
Who else was at that debate? Trump? Palin? Mel Gibson?
Possibly the greatest thing ever said at a Republican gathering of any kind! (Abe Lincoln excluded.)
As both a social and economic liberal, I find myself immensely respecting libertarians about half the time.
Paul is adorable, not believing in evolution and all.
Libertarianism is a genetic trait in middle class white males. Unfortunately, nature has not yet corrected this.
Ovidius It seems you know nothing about Libertarianism.
Yeah, it affects upper class white males, too.
Libertarians would be better if they understood that the cost-benefit analysis of society directly indicates that Socialism is a better plan.
The dominant gene for the upper class remains Kleptocrat, followed by the increasingly prevalent Lemon Socialist.
This article is completely spinning around what Paul was actually saying, and nobody was “laughing him off the stage” they were all in support of him. He’s never been quoted saying he wants to legalize heroin and prostitution. He is saying that people should be able to act upon the liberties given to them by the CONSTITUTION (something that people have seemed to put in the rear view mirror). Paul doesn’t double talk just to appease voters and is a champion of fairness and true equality. He advocates the ideals our country was founded upon. which is not being told how to live your life by a big government that overreaches its power.
Ron Paul is right though, the laws regarding consensual crimes should be changed.
He’s not saying heroin should be legal. He is saying that we have to protect the authority of states! They should be able to determine whether or not heroin is legal.
States are the intermediary between the people and the federal government. If you don’t have representatives with a say in big federal politics, then you will be subjected to possible corruption or tyranny.
The desire to live in a socialist society is a genetic trait of the weak-willed, subordinate, yellow-belly types…
This is a terrible commentary, not too mention, a bold-faced lie. ‘Basically being laughed off of the stage?’ Nice try – but Paul clearly had the crowd laughing with him. This is why most people have moved on from this trash to alternative news who aren’t posting crap like this to simply grab ratings. Better luck next time.
