“Gets it. Gets it done.”

Anything about Jefferson Smith’s campaign motto sound familiar? Put it alongside the slogan that Sho Dozono (Sam Adams’ opponent for mayor) touted in 2008 and it all comes together.

  1. I believe a fellow Jefferson Smith campaign volunteer (can’t remember who) said that. Lots of folks liked it, so it became a slogan.

  2. And where did Sho get it? Norm Bergeron, Commercial Electrician in Maine.

And Bergeron? The Cedar Cottage-Dickens-Kingsway Residents Association. Of course, theirs was a little more racy: “gets it, gets it done, & gets it on”.

And them? The rocking song from In The Ayer.

It’s a generic campaign slogan. It’s like Brady saying “Fresh Start” or Hales “Making Portland Great.”
