Yesterday, Mitt Romney got emotional about a Navy SEAL named Glen Doherty who died on September 11th in Benghazi. Seems Romney met Doherty at a holiday party a few years back and they made a deep, personal connection. Today, Doherty’s best friend, Elf Ellefsen, remembers the party very differently:
According to Ellefsen, Romney introduced himself to Doherty four separate times during the gathering.
“He said it was very comical,” Ellefsen said, “Mitt Romney approached him ultimately four times, using this private gathering as a political venture to further his image. He kept introducing himself as Mitt Romney, a political figure. The same introduction, the same opening line. Glen believed it to be very insincere and stale.”
Ellefsen said Doherty remembered Romney as robotic.
“He said it was pathetic and comical to have the same person come up to you within only a half hour, have this person reintroduce himself to you, having absolutely no idea whatsoever that he just did this 20 minutes ago, and did not even recognize Glen’s face.”
And Doherty’s mother just spoke with a TV news station in Boston about Romney’s use of the anecdote to earn political points:
“I don’t trust Romney. He shouldn’t make my son’s death part of his political agenda. It’s wrong to use these brave young men, who wanted freedom for all, to degrade Obama,” said Barbara Doherty, Glen’s mother.
There was no response from the Romney camp.

This is tame compared to what Obama’s Deputy Campaign Manger Stephanie Cutter tried to do. Only she outright lied. Using a late cancer victim as political fodder is soooo cool.
Paul Constant sucks like a drunk girl after prom. Only in his case, it isn’t cool to suck.
SJR – I think I’ve forgotten the details of the Stephanie Cutter thing. Didn’t that family elect to have their story used in a pro-Obama ad? I thought they came to the Obama campaign, and shared their story, and then the story was used in an Obama Super PAC ad. And then Cutter claimed she hadn’t heard the story before.
Are you under the impression that Super PACs and campaign do not ever communicate with one another?
God, you are LAZY, ROM. I’m not going to the leg work for you. I have provided enough in my posts about Stephanie Cutter and it is common knowledge (with one exception, apparently) that she lied. Obama didn’t do anything about it because he loves having people lie for him. He enjoys the smears and the division. Even if it isn’t working.
I’m never going to do what you want me to for you, ROM. What you need to do is be responsible for yourself and if you have a problem with my posts, maybe you should use due diligence and prove me wrong. Sadly, you have followed me around for quite some time and have never been able to prove me wrong or to be a liar. That’s because I’m here to tell the truth, whether you like it or not.
And are you insinuating that I said she didn’t lie? If so, uh…
