I don’t think there was any unconcern (or hostility or neglect) demonstrated in any of the actions of either of the two adults in this video. Looked to me that the man was being playful and had good reason to be surprised that merely closing the door would activate both the wash cycle and the door lock. I know I would have been. It appears to be an honest mistake.
It seems like as a culture we have a zero-tolerance policy for any time parents mess up and with the same eye we look down at helicopter parents. It’s so easy to judge from behind our computer screens. Give these two a break. Lapses of good judgment happen. I’m glad the child is okay and I hope the man can forgive himself.
I understand, Dan, that you might be making a case against those homophobes who say, “Every Child Deserves a Mother and a Father” but I think there’s a way to construct that argument that doesn’t involve these two in the crossfire.
