MUSIC—The venues in which Edna Vazquez shares her Mexican folk songs are bound to get bigger, so the chance to catch her at this downtown church should not be taken for granted. Her strong voice alone might be enough to transport an audience, and combined with her formidable mariachi guitar playing she’s just about unstoppable. MARJORIE SKINNER

MUSIC—Listening to the somnambulant psych of Cat Hoch is like trust-falling backward into the outstretched arms of the cosmos, and crowdsurfing them to the edge of the universe itself. She’s joined by some other local greats: the senior-prom pop of Rio Grands, and the rowdy rock swagger of Dirty Whips. NED LANNAMANN
