FRIDAY, MARCH 4
DANCE—What follows is a marriage made in heaven: Portland’s own DJ Cooky Parker—the brilliant turntablist behind In the Cooky Jar—is moving his much-beloved R&B/soul dance night to also beloved steakhouse/cool music venue Clyde’s Prime Rib. DJ Nick Waterhouse and Void will be joining the sweaty, ass-shaking fun. This is a marriage worth celebrating. WM. STEVEN HUMPHREY
Clyde’s Prime Rib, 5474 NE Sandy, 9 pm, $5
MUSIC—We’d be lyin’ if we said there won’t be some cryin’ tonight with Grammy Award-winning folk singer John Prine. He’ll be up past his bedtime, but this chill guy doesn’t mind missing those deadlines. You’ll be on cloud nine listening to the genuine Prine whine about livin’, lovin’, and dyin’. CIARA DOLAN
w/Kendell Carson, Dustin Bentall; Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, 1037 SW Broadway, 8 pm, $49.50-94.50, all ages
SATURDAY, MARCH 5
SKATE—Who doesn’t love roller skating without the threat of ankle-biters (and ankle-breakers) underfoot? Tonight’s late-night adults-only open skate at Oaks Park will be packed with good tunes from DJ Glyde and plenty of skaters getting their jams in. Lace ’em up and dress up smart—it’s time to roller boogie! COURTNEY FERGUSON
Oaks Park Roller Rink, 7805 SE Oaks, 11 pm-1:30 am, $10 (includes skate rental), 18+
MUSIC—Pop-punks Blowout won the hearts and ears of many Portlanders with their 2014 debut EP, We All Float Down Here. The band has been a mainstay in the local DIY scene for a while, but with their first full-length due out this spring, fans are going to start growing like weeds in Portland and beyond. CIARA DOLAN
w/Dead Soft, Pass; The Know, 2026 NE Alberta, 8 pm, $7
SUNDAY, MARCH 6
MUSIC—Whether he’s with the Egyptians, the Venus 3, or his seminal group the Soft Boys, Robyn Hitchcock has always been one of our finest songwriters. Tonight the British musician performs a solo acoustic show, highlighting the folk backbone of his neo-psychedelia, and bringing his strong storytelling skills to the fore. NED LANNAMANN
w/Emma Swift; Aladdin Theater, 3017 SE Milwaukie, 8 pm, $25, all ages
SOCCER—You’re probably attending the match between the Timbers and the Columbus Crew because it’s the home opener and you’re a good fan. But you’re really attending because it’s one last championship party, with banner unveilings, pennant giveaways, and Timbers Jim and Joey rallying the crowd. Revel in it. BOBBY ROBERTS
Providence Park, 1844 SW Morrison, 1:30 pm, $45 & up, all ages
