MUSIC—You could not create a more economically minded, stone-cold-tight lineup if you tried. I dare you to think of a better headliner than the sardonic post-punkers of Detroit’s Protomartyr. Throw in some smeared eyeliner tunes from Seattle’s Chastity Belt and the blistering Thermals-filled opener Hurry Up, and this night is a thing of musical beauty. COURTNEY FERGUSON
Doug Fir, 830 E Burnside, 9 pm, $12

MUSIC—You might be something of a disappointment to Dengue Fever. The LA-based surf/psych sextet just returned from a Cambodian tour, where audiences could actually understand vocalist Chhom Nimol’s lovely lyrics. Now they’re back stateside, and all adoring crowds can do is dig the sounds. But, man, that’s still a lot to dig. DIRK VANDERHART
w/Tezeta Band; Mississippi Studios, 3939 N Mississippi, 9 pm, $15
