We’re putting you on to all the best things to do this weekend, with options from Portland Independent Bookstore Day to the Making Earth Cool Earth Day Celebration and from the 82nd Avenue of Roses Parade to the Portland Mercury‘s Pizza Week. Plus, catch the Blazers playoffs at a watch party or sports bar around town and check out our top picks of the week for more ideas.

FRIDAY

LIVE MUSIC

Trails & Tunes Live
Portland filmmaker, musician, and outdoor enthusiast Luke Borsten challenges himself to get outside every week and write an original song inspired by the Pacific Northwest’s natural landscape. He calls the project Trails and Tunes—he livestreams performances and puts videos out on YouTube, but this Friday will be his first-ever irl performance. Borsten works to learn about the land he visits, incorporating history and ecology into short musical documentaries. Sometimes he travels out to places like the Columbia River Gorge and sometimes he keeps it close to home, like with a song he wrote about Portland’s “best 4-mile loop” in Washington Park—I particularly love the video for this one, which includes saxophone and guest appearances from his fiancé and their cat. Looking for ideas on where to hike this summer? Bring your friends, kids, and dogs to this free show at Threshold Brewing (I heard they have a pickle lager—yum!) for some outdoor inspo.
