Zoé Basha with Clyde and the Milltailers
Enchanting, poetic, soulful, polished—these are the words that come to mind as I listen to Dublin-based French American artist Zoé Basha, who describes her music as “Americana brewed in Ireland.” Basha finishes up her first US headlining tour in the Pacific Northwest, driving cross-country and playing in cities she cut her teeth busking in when she was younger. Released independently in April of last year, her debut album Gamble earned her two spots on Grammy Award shortlists: one for Best Folk Album and another for Best American Roots Performance. I’m low-key obsessed with the video for her song “Dublin Street Corners,” which includes the playful description, “A guy I once knew said he’d write me a country song. He never did, so here’s one for him.” SHANNON LUBETICH
