With some notable exceptions (showing up to your mom’s birthday party, not leaving your Tinder date alone in the park, that kinda thing), weekends are for tentative plans. That’s why, in addition to our guide to the best things to do at home this week (which includes options all the way through Sunday), we’ve curated some recommendations for things to do in-person this weekend aren’t event-specific. (But we have included a few specific events, too, for good measure.) See our picks below, from restaurants to visit for Hispanic Heritage Month to early holiday shopping at Powell’s, and from Oaks Park’s Oktoberfest To-Go to the grand opening of the PDX Black Collective Night Market. Plus, you can always check out our complete in-person and streaming calendars for even more options, or our guide to the best movies to stream this weekend.

SEASONAL
Everyone’s favorite autumnal gourd is back and ready for picking at the Sauvie Island’s venerable Pumpkin Patch, which grows over two million pounds of pumpkins annually and sells them for $8 a pop. They also have a market and gift shop, a barn filled with farm animals, a coffee cart, a corn maze, and free hayrides to the U-Pick field. Another nearby option is the family-owned Plumper Pumpkin Patch & Tree Farm, which offers pumpkin picking, a farm store, a hobbit house, a corn maze, baby animals, walking loops, pony rides, and a new hay pyramid to climb. Just be sure to purchase your tickets online ahead of time.

EverOut is The Mercury's new website devoted to things to do in Portland and across the Pacific Northwest. It has all the same things you're used to seeing from Mercury EverOut Staff, just in a new spot!...
