IF YOU HAVEN’T HEARD of Mister Green, you’re blowing it. I know I was until last month when Machus, the E Burnside menswear shop, had a party in their honor. Mister Green is “a friendly shop for high-minded people,” selling rad things like “I’m High LOL” key chains and hand-dyed Dickies carpenter pants (which I just ordered in pink).

The turnout for such an event, as one would predict, was an upper echelon of Portland’s fashion scene. Everyone there was dressed to impress (or get photographed), which is all too rare in this city. That being said, there were a lot of folks whose style I admired, and luckily they were stoked to let me take their pic!

What I wasn’t expecting was the handful of very young boys (like, 16-year-old young) dressing like nothing I’ve seen in town yet. The combo of wide-legged pants worn high as floods, with socks and a flat shoe, like a Vans classic slip-on or Adidas Stan Smith, has started taking off in other major cities, and Portland seems to be finally getting the memo. It makes sense that the children—they are our future—are rocking it first.
