We’re lucky to live in a town where, one Sunday a month and all summer long, we get the beautifully curated Portland Flea at our fingertips. But a recent Sunday brought a few more underrated pop-ups and flea markets that are cool, under the radar, and sometimes in unlikely locations. One was at beloved bar the Vern, while another was at the Permanent Space (AKA the Perm Spa), an event space located under the Morrison Bridge.

The latter pop-up had a bunch of vendors I’d never heard of, but who wowed me with their cool creativity and methods of crafting. One example was Adder Jewelry, whose work gave me a few of those S&M vibes. The second was Cosmic Twin, whose jewelry was a bit more delicate and where I was elated to score a mood ring. A third booth featured Jackface Killah, a designer who moonlights at Nike and had wonderful patches, stickers, and T-shirts with funny sayings like “Slight Jerk” and “OK Person.” With musical selections provided by DJ Natural Magic AND a mimosa bar? Well, let’s just say we had a pretty nice little Sunday. xo, PP
