I have had the sometimes tumultuous but always rewarding joy of working with Adam Arnold many times, and if there’s one thing you can expect with him, it’s the unexpected.

His finale showcase at this year’s run of Open Season fashion shows (#openseasonpdx, yo) was originally scheduled at the beloved Mississippi Studiosโ€”an extremely lovely place that you should absolutely go to on the reg for shows and patio drinks whenever possible (love you guys!). However, the semi-secretive artistic mind of Portland’s most marvelously eccentric clothing designer has hatched a plan that logistically won’t work at the venueโ€ฆย so it’s movingโ€ฆย to the Canton Grill!

If you’re a stranger to the Canton, you need to rectify that: It’s a stalwart of this city’s “real Chinatown,” established in 1944. Its lounge is one of Portland’s best kept secrets, and a mandatory stop if you’re on any 82nd Ave-area errands. However, it is a little off most people’s beaten path at 2610 SE 82nd (at Division) compared to Open Season’s other hyper-central locations, so we’ve also pushed back the timing of the show a bit in case you need extra time to get there, with doors opening at 5:30 pm for a 6:30 show. (Still plenty of time for you to get your 40 winks before Friday morning).

Hopefully it’s not a deal-breaking inconvenience for anyoneโ€”but if you already have a ticket and you can’t roll with this punch, we’ll happily refund you. Personally, I’m jazzed. It’s a little offbeat, a little unexpected, and therefore so, so Adam. I can’t wait to get weird, and you should too!
