Back to the Future fans, rejoice! The sneaks Marty McFly wore in Back to the Future II are scheduled to be released by Nike in late July, according to Wired. They’ll be called Nike Hyperdunks, but unfortunately will not come with the super awesome automatic lacing feature, as seen below.

WHEN WILL THE FUTURE EVER CATCH UP?!?

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. Ned- there’s a book called “where’s my jetpack” by dr. daniel h. wilson (it was supposed to be called “where’s my fucking jetpack,” but that’s not marketable to the children of wired magazine execs…) that should explain why you are still commuting by 2 or 4 wheels.

In regards to the shoes, the “Air Yeezy,” Kanye West’s shoe, has been around for a little while, but used the B2TF2 nikes as inspiration.

Personally, I want the Reeboks from Aliens. Those are dope.

  2. Does anybody else remember some “The Making of Back to the Future” TV special that came on around the time Back to the Future Part II came out? And there was some dude on there–I think he was a special effects artist for the movie–saying, “Oh, the hoverboards aren’t even a special effect! Those were invented years ago, but the government decided they were too dangerous, so they couldn’t sell them. So there’s this big warehouse full of unused hoverboards, and we just got a couple and put ’em in the movie!”

I believed that asshole for like 10 years.

  3. my sister and law works at Nike and told me about this. i think its kind of neat but Nike might be way behind the hipster 80’s revival.
