Everything about the following video is PERFECT. Behold! A rare peek into the unmitigated AWESOMENESS of 1991, via this New York cable TV show entitled The Power Mix Dance Party, faithfully recorded every Saturday night back in ’91 at Scandals nightclub with DJ Dino Papastratis and your host “The Storm” (from 99.1 WAAL radio). This is so unbelievably awesome they had to edit it from its regular 30 minute running time down to eight minutes—but it’s all worth it! Especially for the guy in the parachute pants or that other guy with the Garfield jacket.
GODDAMN YOU, TIME MACHINE! Be invented already!!

End Hits: Wiggle it… just a little bit.

Bang bang, choo-choo train, let me see you shake that thang. Wm. Steven Humphrey is the editor-in-chief of the Portland Mercury and has held the job since 2000. (So don’t get any funny ideas.)

  1. I can’t wait until I am searching through videos on the PDX blog in 2020 (which will be written from outter space) and see myself in some video taken at Rotture dancing to Glass Candy wearing an old flannel, tight jeans and some pair of thick black librarian glasses and think to myself, “ahhh where did the good times go.”
