—Garmentory is winding up its national #BOUTIQUELOVE tour in Portland next week, with a party at West End Select Shop May 7, 6-8 pm. There’ll be a pop-up, a Fieldwork Flowers photo booth, 10 percent off spring merch, a $100 giveaway, and more.
—Mink has added a new video feature to their online experience. In them, shop owner Carla Mink explains things like how to wear bright colors and how to dress for different body types:
—Zenbox Design is taking advantage of the tourism interest in Portland with the MakerFlat. Due to become available Friday, the Southeast home is a short-term rental that’s completed furnished and outfitted by local makers and artisans. And, guests can totally steal from it (not really): “The beauty is that after spending a few days with Portland wares, if the guest wants to buy your piece they can simply take it with them or have shipped to their home. Creating an opportunity for immediate exposure, and often immediate sales to a crowd much larger (and with much deeper pockets) than our neighborhoods currently hold.” They’re focusing on contemporary furniture and “wares that focus on clean lines, truth in materials and comfort,” and they’re open to introducing more products, so if you’re out there toiling away on a lovely entry table, set of kitchen knives, or outdoor fountain, this could be an opportunity for you.
—Speaking of broadening markets for Portland-made goods, Portland Made, MadeHere PDX, and ADX are headed to New York next month for Wanted Design. It’s the start of a new push to get the word out about what’s being manufactured here so again, if you’re making stuff and want a hand in getting it out there, get in touch.
