BEST:

A lot of designers were referencing abstract paintings this year, which I loved! My favorite brand to watch was LF Markey. I also loved all the thoughtful handmade ceramics, and following the artist Hilda Hellstrรถm.

WORST:

My least favorite trend in 2015 was the overwhelming gentrification of Portlandโ€”making it so much harder for artists, musicians, makers and low-income communities to stay and thrive here.

    Moron. Think of all the elderly people and single parents with kids who can’t simply move back to their rich parents’ home in Cherry Creek, Lake Forest, etc. Anyone serious about making art would move to Detroit where you can have a house for free, won’t need to work and won’t have any incentive to leave your house. “Creatives” in this town are just here to join a club, a fraction are actually talented.
