The greatest bar named after a song on Let It Be, Dig a Pony is the fancy new watering hole launched by local men and women about town Aaron Hall, Jacob Carey and Page Finlay. Set in the completely remodeled building on the corner of SE Grand and Morrison (736 SE Grand, to be exact) that once housed Niki’s, Dig a Pony are finally ready to swing open their doors on Thursday July 28.
Despite my protests, the space does not have a stable full of pettable ponies (this is a millionaire dollar idea—do not steal it!), but Dig a Pony will feature an expansive horseshoe-shaped (or as I prefer, ponyshoe-shaped) bar and nightly DJs. For their grand opening, the fabulous Au and dreamy up-and-comers Blouse will be playing a free set, plus there will be some special DJ guests as well. (In the spirit of Let It Be, Au should play on the roof with the ghost of Billy Preston and then break up.)
